'Brighton Starlings''. lino print, image size approximately 54cm x 42cm. Signed, in an edition of 16, unframed £85.00 inc p+p. To order this print please email me.
'Brighton Starlings' recalls watching the incredible evening starling roost from Brighton one evening this winter. The birds start to gather at dusk, as the light falls they wheel and dive in the air as one collective mass, ocasionally dividing and rejoining. This spectacle went on for around half an hour and as the moon shone through the flock the birds suddenly dived as one onto the remains of the old pier now separated from the seaside town. This was to be their eventual roosting site for the night.

'Bempton Gannets' was made after a visit to the extraordinary gannet colony on the Yorkshire coast. I have rarely been so close to these large seabirds. These are a bird more usually seen gliding out to sea, or diving for fish - today they were preparing for nesting so they were spending time sat on the grassy cliffs in the sun and wind - just beautiful.

'Wading Avocets', these birds are made for linocuts, their black and white plummage is so cleanly set out. It is not often you see their feet, but given shallow water you can get a fleeting glimpse. The two in the print come from one of my favourite places in the world, Minsmere on the Suffolk coast. Avocets are now resident all year round there and from the hides I can sit, watch and draw them out of the cold east wind that comes in off the North sea. Stunning birds in a stunning location.
